CLARET, France - Feb. 19, 2008 - NETIA today announced that the General Organization of Radio and Television Syria, the Syrian national broadcast authority, also known as ORTAS, is extending its use of Radio-AssistTM digital audio software products within its Radio Directorate to further streamline production of news, dramas, special event coverage, and other programming at the broadcaster's Damascus facility.
ORTAS has been using NETIA's Radio-AssistTM software suite in its radio production studios and Air-DDO playout system in its broadcast studios since 2004 and is now in the process of incorporating eight additional Radio-AssistTM systems and two external feed recording stations into its operations.
"NETIA solutions enable us to use one database and management system for a variety of audio files recorded in various studios, including news reports, music, jingles, and advertisements," said Ayman Bilto, technical director at ORTAS. "This efficient handling and organization of content makes it easy for us to search, classify, arrange, and share audio within our radio production workflow."
The Syrian Radio Directorate within ORTAS consists of four departments: Radi, Shaab, Shabab FM, and a multi-language Syrian news service. The national broadcaster was established in 1946 and today broadcasts around the clock from its building at the capital city's Al-Amouean Square. The new Radio-AssistTM workstations will be installed in ORTAS control rooms for program review, and the NETIA feed recording system will allow the facility to record audio provided by other stations.
Radio-AssistTM covers the entire operation of a radio broadcaster, allowing production staff to record, edit, or prepare playlists while working within a single application. The comprehensive software suites features tools for acquisition, sound-file editing, commercial and music production, newsroom systems, scheduling, multicasting, administration, and more. The Radio-AssistTM Air-DDO broadcast module offers advanced ergonomic and technological features, and its GUI simultaneously displays the four ORTAS radio channels along with tools for cueing, on-air monitoring, playlist modification, recording, and production.
