NETIA Content Management System

The shift from tape-based media operations to digital file-based workflows has opened many new doors for broadcasters, telecom operators or any content owner.
More specifically, this move has facilitated a dramatic rise in the number of distribution platforms and outlets through which such companies can deliver and monetize their digital assets.

Key players across the media industry are extending their business offer to include new distribution platforms, which strive to meet consumer demand for access to content anywhere at anytime.
The rise of this multi-platform market, in which the traditional broadcast and telecommunications sectors are converging, has put new demands on content producers and providers.

Vital to the success of operators' emerging multi-platform models is the ability to maintain efficient media management while their production and delivery processes target an expanding array of platforms and devices.
Rather than implement multiple parallel processes for preparing and delivering content, operators now must establish a single streamlined content management model supporting multi-platform publishing.

NETIA has been refining its portfolio of media asset management (MAM) products to address this challenge.
Developing a highly efficient and flexible audio and video content life cycle management and preparation solution to empower multiplatform delivery and enable users to manage growing volumes of on-demand audio and video content in multiple formats.
These new ingest-to-delivery content management solutions, based on proven applications, aid media players in their quest to consolidate, manage, monitor production and delivery of content for IPTV, the Internet, VOD, and mobile platforms.

  • Manage increasing volumes of files
  • Optimize ROI
  • Monetize assets
  • Reduce operational costs
  • Save time and money

MEDIA ASSET MANAGEMENT

The main functions for editorial users are cataloging, searching, retrieving, browsing, describing, segmenting, and repurposing. For technical staff, archiving, supervising, and monitoring are priorities.
The system interfaces with ingest, production, newsroom, storage and automation applications to streamline automatic take-on of high-resolution media and associated metadata.
Media can be enriched with additional specific metadata, which enables faster searches and better access to stored content.

  • Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) for high interoperability
  • User-friendly web-based interface using Silverlight Technology
  • Data stored in an Oracle Database
  • Secured environment

Features

Structure your Media Assets:
The system provides a hierarchical organization of content. Various media such as audio, video, images, subtitles, transcription files, pdf are linked in a same entity. Several entities can be combined in one or several groups or sub-groups. Sets of metadata can be added at each hierarchical level.

Customize your own workspace:
A set of fully customizable 'widgets' gives quick access to the main features via a user profile. A flexible GUI enables each user to design its own interface layout and to set up its own search criteria or decide how the results will be displayed.

Monitor and Manage your processes:
A dedicated interface allows users to supervise in real time all running processes. The system shows the status of most tasks performed by third party systems. The user is able to take actions on the running processes like quality control, check for metadata completion, modify priorities, start, and stop tasks. A TO DO list automatically notifies users of tasks to be performed.

WORKFLOW MANAGEMENT

To manage an increasing volume of media files as well as coordinate various applications within a single production environment, NETIA designed a Workflow Manager. A workflow consists of a sequence of connected manual or automated tasks to be performed.

The NETIA Workflow Editor is a dedicated tool to create graphs or sub-graphs and visually choreograph workflows. These graphs describe the workflow processes to be performed by the various connectors. The connectors carry instructions from any third party system such as NETIA MAM and detail the tasks to be automatically executed.

The NETIA Workflow Engine organizes media management processes, harmonizes exchanges between different applications, handles prioritization across the system, and automates content distribution processes. Tools within the software facilitate preparation of content for delivery by performing metadata extraction, transcoding, quality control, image processing, and subtitle management.

To streamline the actual content delivery, the solution provides tools to interface with content packaging, metadata tagging, and rights management, with workflow supervision guiding these processes. Configurable rules govern the delivery of content to specific service providers and numerous service platforms ranging from VOD to set-top box, catchup TV, and Internet news portals.

  • Visual construction of workflow processes.
  • Intuitive and ergonomic graphic user interface.
  • Highly flexible connectors library.
  • Optimization of time to move content, and make it available.
  • Reduce costs and minimize the need for human intervention.
